Q&A

What is your role at your organisation and what is your main area of business/practice?

National Sales Manager at BioMedica Nutraceuticals. I work with a team of amazing Practitioner Consultants at BioMedica whose role it is to offer the best service and support we can to practitioners. This support comes in a variety of ways and is tailored to meet the needs of each practitioner’s clinical context.

Our team of Practitioner Consultants often receive feedback from practitioners on products, tools or resources that would be helpful to have in clinic. So, I then get to collaborate with our clinical support, education and marketing teams to help create those resources.

It’s an awesome job.

How did you get into your area of expertise, and why do you stay?

It all started one ordinary day with a spontaneous visit to Nature Care College back in 2003 and the path has just unfurled before me as I go.

I would love to say that I had a grand plan on where I wanted my career to go and that I’ve followed that path with laser focus, but the truth of it is, I’ve been falling forward with a bit of skill and a lot of good fortune.

The vast majority of people you come across in this field are here because they have a genuine desire to want to help people be well. It’s hard not to be inspired and motivated when you work with people like this every day.

What has been the main focus or outcomes of your research/work over the past year?

BioMedica made a promise to practitioners over 30 years ago, that we would support them in clinical practice by making the best products we possibly can, based on the best ingredients, research and evidence available and that we would make those products exclusively available on their prescription only.

This remains our core focus.

How has your field changed in the past five years?

Data and information. There’s just so much available to anyone inclined to look.

This can be fantastic or terrible.

Data and information can easily be manipulated and people looking for answers to their health challenges can easily be led down costly rabbit holes.

One of the best services I think a natural health practitioner can provide to their clients, is to sort through the facts v’s fictions and distil information into health plans that are trustworthy and personalised.

What do you predict will happen in the next 5 to 10 years in your brand’s particular field(s) of expertise?

More and more people will turn to natural health practitioners as we struggle to deal with the growing environmental and lifestyle diseases that the current conventional medical model fails to adequately address.

Technological advances will enhance and expand research methods. Plus we will gain greater insights and understanding of how our wonderful natural remedies work to restore balance in the body, further increasing its credibility and significance.

What is the one-way you believe natural medicine practitioners, can make a difference for their clients?

Collaborate – with doctors,

chiropractors, physiotherapists, psychologists, pharmacists, exercise physiologists etc.

I feel that the more we embrace and work with colleagues from all sides of the medical fraternity, the better equipped we will be to support the best health outcomes of the client.

Fun fact for the readers: Tell us who inspires you/or who your professional idol is and why?

Everyone attending this symposium this weekend. Each time I sit in a lecture room on a beautiful Sydney weekend and think of all the places these people in the room with me could be, but they are here learning on behalf of their clients. I get inspired by that.
